In Monthly Pulse by John Temple

In our monthly Pulse you can find and download the trends in category sales across beer, wine, and spirits from the transactions of Drizly’s leading-indicator audience.

Highlights for November 2017: Wine continued to lead in growth, reaching a new height at 45% of total alcohol sales by dollar value. Beer remains down 14% versus last November, while liquor is down 1% in share over last year.

Within the growing wine category, rosé is up over last November’s small base as it proves to have more of a year-round appeal. Red wine is up 3% in share while champagne and sparkling wines are behind their annual trend from the prior year. Tequila and brandy (including cognac) both saw continued share increases this November. Liqueurs and cordials also saw a spike as we head into the cocktail holiday season. Within beer, ales, cider, and specialty have all experienced share gains.
